COMPACT PLANT DESIGN FOR LIGNITE PROCESSING

 

 

Leading crushing and screening equipment manufacturer, HAZEMAG EPR GmbH, has recently designed and installed a secondary crushing plant for PT Indonesia Pratama, Indonesia, for processing lignite at a continuous rate of 1,500 t/h.

 

At the outset, the customer’s expressed requirement was for an engineered crushing solution which would be energy-efficient, yet capable of continuous operation. Also key to the design of the preparation plant was that its overall construction height should be as low as possible.

Hazemag was able to fulfil these requirements by designing a crushing and screening system which combines a roller screen and feeder-breaker in a single compact unit. The low-height HFB 0714 feeder-breaker, which employs horizontal-flow crushing technology, has an integrated chain conveyor and a single crushing roll equipped with picks.

By incorporating the roller screen into the chain conveyor of the feeder-breaker, HAZEMAG have created an extremely compact unit that is just 3.3m high, 5.4m wide and 9.7m long. Employing the roller screen for pre-screening means that any unnecessary material crushing is avoided and, as a result, both the crusher size and its motor power rating have been minimised. As well as the plant’s compact size, this combination of connected machines, with its unique features, allowed HAZEMAG to achieve cost efficiency in its overall concept – also a prerequisite for the customer. The screening area of the roller screen is 2.2m wide, with a length of 4.2m and a gap setting of 55mm. The screening surface consists of several rotating shafts fitted with discs which are positioned to most effectively achieve the required separation size. The ‘triple-elbow’ shape of the discs promotes conveyance of the feed material and helps prevent clogging – ensuring trouble-free operation, even with difficult-to-screen material. Hazemag can supply the roller screen in either single or multi-stage configuration, and also with variable gap setting.

The single roll, horizontal-flow crusher (feeder-breaker), has a low feed height and a wide range of options; different throughput rates, and end product sizes, are achievable depending on the chain size and scraper distances specified for the scraper chain conveyor.

HAZEMAG maintains that this unique compact crushing and screening combination, with horizontal material flow, low feed heights and a multitude of options, allows the system to be utilised effectively in numerous minerals size reduction applications – such as coal, salt and gypsum – both above and below ground.
